If you do not currently meet the English language requirements for your chosen course then we offer a number of Pre-sessional English courses to help you achieve the entry requirements. For Pre-Sessional entry requirements, please see

For Pre-Sessional courses York St John University can only accept UK Visas & Immigration-approved SELT  exams as evidence of English language ability.

*Please note that entry requirements are accurate for September 2024.

Please be aware that BA (Hons) Media Production: Journalism requires IELTS 7.5 (with no less than 7.5 in each component) or equivalent.

For these courses York St John University can only accept UK Visas & Immigration-approved SELT IELTS (IELTS for UKVI) exams as evidence of English Language ability.

We are unable to accept Functional Skills in lieu of our English Language Requirements.
