I am Professor of Sport and Health Psychology and Research Lead for the School of Science, Technology and Health. I have a PhD in Psychology from the University of Kent. My research focuses on the predictors, consequences, and prevention of burnout in sports, education, and healthcare.

My main teaching responsibility lies in the area of Sport and Exercise Psychology. I have designed and delivered modules across all levels of undergraduate study. I supervise students at undergraduate, taught postgraduate, MSc by research, and PhD levels.
My research focuses on the predictors, consequences, and prevention of burnout in healthcare, sport, and education. I am also interested in perfectionism in achievement contexts. My research has been funded by the World Anti-Doping Agency, the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences, Yorkshire Cancer Research, and the Swedish Research Council.
Recent publications
I have reviewed over 30 peer-reviewed publications in the areas of Sport, Education, and Health. Such journals include the British Journal of Educational Psychology, Eating and Weight Disorders, Scandinavian Journal of Medicine and Science in Sport, the Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology, and Substance Abuse Treatment, Prevention, and Policy. I have also reviewed grant funding applications for several international funding organisations including the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
I regularly present at national and international conferences including invited talks at the European Federation of Sport Psychology (FEPSAC) and the North American Society for the Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity (NASPSPA).
I have several editorial roles including Co-Editor-In-Chief of the International Journal of Sport Psychology, Associate Editor of the European Journal of Sport Science, and Editorial Board Member of Performance Enhancement and Health.
