I am a Scottish-trained economist who teaches and contributes to the vibrant research community here at York St John University.
My research sits at the intersection of development economics, banking, and financial economics, with a particular focus on how financial systems, human capital, and public policy shape inclusive and sustainable development. My work examines the structural drivers of economic growth, the dynamics of skills formation, and the distributional consequences of labour market change. I am especially interested in how education, training, and institutional quality influence productivity, employment outcomes, and long‑term economic resilience in developing and emerging economies.
A second strand of my research explores bank behaviour, risk‑taking, and financial regulation, with an emphasis on how regulatory frameworks and macroeconomic conditions affect credit allocation, financial stability, and economic performance. My work employs applied econometric and quantitative methods to generate evidence that can inform policy design, institutional reform, and development planning. Across these areas, I am committed to producing research that bridges academic inquiry with real‑world impact, supporting policymakers, industry partners, and civil society organisations in addressing complex economic challenges.
I hold a PhD in Economics from the Economics Department of the Prestigious Strathclyde Business School at the University of Strathclyde. I hold a Master's Degree in Finance from the renowned University of Ghana Business School, and a BA in Economics from the competitive Economics Department of the University of Ghana. I also hold a PGCert in Research Methods from the University of Strathclyde.
