I am an experienced, accredited practitioner (UKSCA and BASES) and educator with previous applied roles in professional football, rugby league and international para-athletes. I enjoy supporting the development of young professionals through education and hope to make a lasting impact through my passionate and enthusiastic approach to teaching and researching.

I predominantly teach across the specialist modules for the BSc Sport and Exercise Therapy course. I lead modules in Strength and Conditioning, Sports Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation and Return to Sport. I am also heavily involved with the employability and career development of students and lead the Better Me initiative within the department.

My research area explores how the changes associated with biological maturation impact sports performance and injury risk. I am particularly keen on developing knowledge around managing the adolescent growth-spurt in young athletes and producing 'best practice' guidelines for professionals on how we can enhance youth development to reduce early-maturing bias and growth-related injury. I work closely with local, national and international sports organisations to help improve coach knowledge and awareness of these issues and aim to have a lasting impact on the development pathways in sport.

Recent publications

I hold professional accreditation as a Strength and Conditioning Coach with the UKSCA and as a Sport and Exercise Scientist (CSci) with CASES. I have extensive experience supporting a range of athletes within a physical performance field and currently teach and assess the UKSCA Level 3 Strength and Conditioning Trainer award.
