Qualifications: EdD, BA (Hons) History, PGCE, PCAP, SFHEA

Over my career I have taught in primary schools across 3 different local authorities, holding roles including Early Years Leader and SEN Governor. I have also been subject leader for History and Art. I have worked in a number of different contexts from a small village school to a large primary school with attached nursery and resourced provision. I gained my MLDP (Middle Leadership) qualification whilst working in West Sussex, focusing on a project to raise boys' writing levels in schools.

I began working as a Lecturer in Primary Education at York St John University in September 2015. I have successfully completed my Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice and I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I teach across all year groups on the BA Primary Education programme and I am also an Academic Tutor and Lead Mentor.

I am Module Director for Children's Learning in the EYFS and Professional Studies 2: Becoming a Teacher. I also teach on the Early Years Professional Elective, Professional Studies (Year 3) and I lead and teach Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education within the Year 1 and 2 Wider Curriculum modules.

I have recently completed my doctorate entitled, 'A Rollercoaster of Challenges and Rewards: How Primary Early Career Teachers (ECTs) in England navigate and manage their professional identity against the current educational policy context'.

My research interests include ECT transition, teacher identity, Early Years education and outdoor learning.
