I am a microbiologist and public health researcher with expertise in antimicrobial resistance and pathogen diversity in infectious diseases. I hold a BSc., MSc., and PhD in Microbiology from the University of Port Harcourt Nigeria, and a master’s in public health from Middlesex University, UK.

My MSc investigated the public health risks of human activities in harbours and jetties, while my PhD focused on the antibacterial properties of honey against resistant wound pathogens. More recently, my master’s in public health research examined the impact of telemedicine on obesity management in the pre and post COVID-19 era.

I have presented some of my work at national and international conferences, including as a Keystone Symposia Global Health Travel Award recipient. I have published widely in peer-reviewed journals such as African Journal of Microbiology Research, African Journal of Biotechnology, Bulletin of the National Research Centre, International Journal of Microbiology, and the Pan African Medical Journal. My research interests include:

  • Molecular analysis of antimicrobial resistance genes
  • Epidemiological investigation of global disease trends
  • Addressing global challenges in public health

I joined York St. John University London Centre in August 2025, where I am a lecturer in business and health management (Public Health and Global Healthcare Management).

I teach Public Health and Global Healthcare Management. I achieved my Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) status in February 2025.

I have secured funding from the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) and the Centre for International Co-operation in Science (CICS) for research on bioactive natural products, as well as a TETFund award for studies on tetracycline-resistant Escherichia coli and honey’s therapeutic potential in diabetic wound infections.

I have over 10 years' experience teaching and research in microbiology and public health, from undergraduate to postgraduate level. I support students in developing analytical skills, laboratory competence, and critical thinking. Over the years I have supervised more than 100 bachelor's dissertations, eight master's theses, and co-supervised five PhDs.

I have been selected as an external examiner for MSc dissertation in medical microbiology in Nigeria.
