David Young

Lecturer, Music Production

I graduated from York St John University with a 1st class honours degree in Music Production in 2010. Following this, I studied for an MA in Music composition at the same institution, achieving an overall distinction. I am currently working towards my PhD in music production, my research is within the field of Science and Technology, following the Social Construction of the Rhythm Machine.

My professional portfolio includes both national and international sound installation works, including permanent installations in the National Science Museum, London, Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Strong Museum, New York State, USA, and The Field at Commonwealth, Virginia, USA

My UK and European temporary installations include, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, National History Museum, Beacons Music Festival, Galtres Music Festival, Earls Court, Manchester Complex, Islington Design Centre, Excel, Glasgow Science Centre, BBC Centre, Glasgow, Node, Switzerland and Colmar, France.

I have presented my Theremin Bollard research at Innovation in Music conference, York University 2013 and Anglia Ruskin University in 2015.
