Current Research Projects

PhD research: Psycho-Physical Interactions in Parkinson’s Disease: Investigating the relationship between the physical and psychological symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease. Other research projects involve studies considering the impact of structured physical activity to improve physical and mental health in patients with serious mental illness. These interests cover both inpatient and community settings.

Non-Research Background

I completed my Physiotherapy training at the University of Birmingham following completion of my Sport and Exercise Sciences degree. On qualifying I relocated to Kent and worked clinically across a variety of areas in acute hospitals and community settings and is where my interest in neurodegenerative disorders began. In September 2020 I moved back home to the North East of England to begin a role in re-establishing inpatient physiotherapy services across inpatient mental health settings in Durham and Darlington.

Research Experience

Trial assistant for projects within my NHS Trust; NIHR/HEE Internship; NIHR/HEE funded Pre-Doctoral Clinical Academic Fellowship. Masters degree in Clinical Research at The University of Manchester. I’m currently completing a part-time PhD alongside my clinical role and have also been fortunate enough to secure further funding to begin work on other research projects.
