Robert Bennett

I am a Learning and Access worker supporting students to access and benefit from courses and activities delivered by Converge at York St John University. I also run a local charity, Brighter Futures Yorkshire which supports people who experience mental health challenges through a range of practical activities. With extensive lived experience of mental health challenges, I am a passionate believer in the power of peer support facilitated by engagement in meaningful activity.

I am also a PhD researcher supervised by Dr Jude Parks and Professor Nick Rowe, exploring the relationship between the University campus and recovery from mental health challenges. Its focus is on understanding the process through which the campus as a place can facilitate recovery from mental health challenges.

Alongside my PhD I deliver a variety of courses and community-based projects which encourage participants to consider and understand the places of value to them in terms of both positive mental health and wellbeing.
