I am a Senior Lecturer in Business Management and International Business within the York Business School at York St John University. I joined the University in 2018 after positions at Edge Hill University and the University of York. My educational background includes a BA in Political Science and International Relations from UCLA in California and an MA and PhD in Politics from the University of York. My research interests include asylum, the privatisation of immigration control, and state and corporate harm.
I teach across multiple postgraduate programmes, including the MSc in International Business, the Business MRes, and the MBA. Example modules include YBR7004M 'Contemporary Theories and Philosophies in Business' and MBB7071M 'Business Ethics and Sustainability'. I also support postgraduate researchers in supervising capstone projects and theses.
My research largely focuses on immigration law and policy, immigration enforcement, and the role of the state and corporate actors in maintaining the UK's immigration control regime. I am also active in researching racial and ethnic inequality within institutional, organisational and municipal environments. My work largely employs qualitative methods as a means of reflecting personal experiences and assessing the impacts of inequality.
