Festival access and facilities

We want your visit to the I'm Me Festival and Symposium to feel easy and welcoming. Below is some information to help you plan your visit.

General information

Parking

There are a small number of blue badge parking spots on campus. If you use these you will need to register your number plate with the University by emailing estates.admin@yorksj.ac.uk

Buildings

The York St John Creative Centre has step free access throughout. Access to the first and second floors is via a lift in the lobby.

There are all gender toilets and accessible toilets. The accessible toilets are the minimum required by Document M.

There will be a chill out space available on the second floor throughout the symposium and the festival.

The symposium, all performances and workshops are relaxed. This means you can respond naturally including moving, making noise, and coming and going as you need to.

Performance and film

All video art is captioned.

The performances on Friday 20 June will be live captioned.

Sensory information

  • Lights will remain on the theatre and screening room.
  • Almost every performance and film has people talking over music or other sounds.
  • Sistarz has a live band so it may be loud.
  • Me First may have sudden loud sounds and people shouting.
  • All video art is captioned.
  • The performances on Friday 20 June will be live captioned.

Creative Centre auditorium: The inside of the Creative Centre auditorium, seen from the stage. There are 2 levels. The ground level has a bank of red chairs in the centre with aisles on either side. The seats don't have arms on them. The room in panelled in narrow vertical strips of wood that create an intense, repeating pattern. The only place in the auditorium without this pattern is the stage.

Screening room: The first floor screening room. There are rows of fixed tables and seats facing screen. The seats do not have arms. There is space for a wheelchair user on the left in the front row. There are bright overhead lights that will be dimmed for the I'm Me Festival.
