Our mission is to ensure that York St John is safe and inclusive for our students and staff.

We are dedicated to investing in our buildings and amenities in a way that works for everyone and we always welcome feedback about how we can continue to provide an accessible and inspirational environment for everyone.

AccessAble

We are delighted to work with AccessAble to create Access Guides for York St John and look forward to welcoming you to our campus.

These guides are available for each building across campus. They provide detailed accessibility information for our buildings and facilities. This includes how to get there, entrances, toilets and more.

Assistance dogs

We welcome assistance dogs on campus. The following information is for assistance dog owners.

Toilet areas

The wildlife/nature area opposite the Chapel is a fenced area. Please dispose of dog waste in a sealed bag.

Walking your dog

You can let your dog off-lead in the wildlife/nature area opposite the Chapel, but it is not entirely secure. We expect that the dog will respond promptly to your call.

You can walk your dog by the city walls, across from Lord Mayor's Walk. However, these are not accessible for everyone as the ground is uneven and there are steps.

Clarence Gardens, between Haxby Road and Wigginton Road, is a few minutes' walk away from the campus. The ground is flat and has dog bins.

Water bowl

The Porters' Lodge and the Students' Union reception have a spare water bowl which you can borrow.
