I started my journey in Higher Education in 2009/2010, as a Lecturer in land-based sciences within the fields of animal, equine and veterinary practice. Progressing through my academic career, I stepped into senior management in 2015/16, leading on university-wide, multi-campus, inclusive academic development and quality initiatives. The roles I have held for the last decade (and more) have cultivated my professional practice and research interests, alongside my personal journey within education, leading me to embark on a part time PhD in education and social justice at Lancaster University. As a widening participation student (first in family), born into a mixed heritage working class family, now working as an established female (mother) senior leader, I believe I can add value both personally and professionally to the Athena Swan Charter and the broader equality, diversity and inclusion culture at York St John University.
