Staff Profile

Chloe Hanks

Postgraduate Researcher in Creative Writing

I am a poet interested in the discussion of female villainy, currently with a focus on historical cases whereby women could be perceived as ‘evil’.

I currently hold a Masters with Distinction from the University of Birmingham and won the V Press Prize for Poetry in 2020. My poetry collection, I Call Upon the Witches, is available from Sunday Mornings at the River and my micro-pamphlet, Adulteress, is forthcoming from Querencia Press Summer 2022.

Research

I am currently researching creative intervention with the archive to develop a methodology to support the role of creative writing in engaging with, and interpreting, historical material.

As a practice-based researcher, I am also producing a poetry collection about the lived experience of women who poisoned their lovers.

Professional activities

I am the curator and editor of an emerging literature magazine called The Palimpsest which publishes intertextual work that engages with the concept of 'the archive'.
