Professor Daniel Madigan

Professor of Sport and Health Psychology

Daniel Madigan

I am Professor of Sport and Health Psychology and Research Lead for the School of Science, Technology and Health. I have a PhD in Psychology from the University of Kent. My research focuses on the predictors, consequences, and prevention of burnout in sport, education, and healthcare.

Teaching

My main teaching responsibility lies in the area of Sport and Exercise Psychology. I have designed and delivered modules across all levels of undergraduate study. I supervise students at undergraduate, taught postgraduate, MSc by research, and PhD levels. 

Research

My research focuses on the predictors, consequences, and prevention of burnout in healthcare, sport, and education. I am also interested in perfectionism in achievement contexts. My research has been funded by the World Anti-Doping Agency, British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences, Yorkshire Cancer Research, and the Swedish Research Council.
