Dr Frances Butler

My post as a Health Services Research Fellow within the Institute for Health and Care Improvement allows me to work within the team to advance links and collaborations with colleagues at York St John University and York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust within the field of clinical-based research. I have a keen interest in ensuring patient-centred care and tackling health inequalities, especially in relation to self-management and behaviour change in chronic respiratory disease.

My clinical role is an Advanced Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in Chronic Respiratory Disease and Pulmonary Rehabilitation in which I lead the service for respiratory outpatients and Pulmonary Rehabilitation across sites within York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. I work as an autonomous practitioner with clinical expertise in the assessment and management of adults with respiratory disease.

I successfully completed my PhD in 2023 with a focus on behaviour change in self-management in Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
