Our new student service launches this summer
Access help and information through one simple route. The Student Hub will provide support through our new digital portal, in person and by phone.

Your Student Hub is designed to provide a smooth journey for all students who need to access help or guidance.
Our new HELP team will be here to assist you with enquiries online, in person or by phone.
The Hub is designed to be simple and inclusive. You will have one place to access support information and make enquiries.
Change timeline

Changes on our campuses
From 1 April 2025
You will notice changes to the Holgate building on our York campus from April. Building work will take place to transform our current space into a calming, student-focused environment. New meeting rooms and a support desk will be added. The building work is expected to finish in the summer.
On our London campus, the Floor Three reception will become the home of the Student Hub. We'll update the existing reception desk to become a student support desk and a nearby meeting room will provide dedicated space for confidential support meetings.

Hub launch
Summer 2025
The Student Hub will officially launch in summer 2025. The exact date will be confirmed closer to the time.
Student enquiries and support services will be accessible through the Hub. The Hub's online portal will be available giving current students access to the guidance and information they need.

2025 academic year begins
September 2025
Our new academic year will begin in September with a range of welcome events including Degree Apprenticeship Welcome, Early Start and Welcome Week. The Student Hub will support all new and current students. If you are a returning student, you may notice some differences as questions will be answered and support provided through the Hub.
Holgate Information Services desk
The Holgate Information Services desk at our York campus is closed throughout the refurbishment work, but you will be able to get help and support from our team at the Information Services desk in Fountains Learning Centre.
Holgate will remain open during the refurbishment works. However, specific parts of the Ground Floor may be closed for short periods and access routes to some areas of Holgate may be subject to change.
For students with on-campus appointments with Wellbeing, Welfare or Disability you will be able to check in at the desk in Fountains Learning Centre or by phoning 01904 876696. If you would like to attend a daily Wellbeing Drop-in you can register at the Information Services desk in Fountains Learning Centre.

Student Hub on campus
The Student Hub will have a physical space at both our York and London campuses. You will be able to visit these areas to speak to staff and access support.
In York, our remodelled Holgate building space will include:
- A new Student Hub desk for enquiries
- Dedicated spaces for private, confidential conversations with support staff
- Interactive self-help points to access digital support resources
- A calming environment following biophilic designs incorporating plants and natural elements
- Clear wheelchair accessible routes and portable hearing loops
Details of updates to our London campus space will be confirmed soon.

Student Hub online
The Student Hub's online portal will be your route to access information articles, submit enquiries, and receive responses from our support teams.
The portal will include:
- A searchable knowledge base of help articles, covering support topics from all of our student services
- A clear system for submitting questions and receiving replies from support staff
- Appointment bookings for support teams
All students will be able to access knowledge articles and read information about our services. To submit an enquiry or book an appointment through the Hub portal, you must be an enrolled York St John student with a yorksj.ac.uk email address.

The HELP team
The Student Hub will give you access to a new staff team at both the York and London campuses. This team will be known as the HELP (Here to Empower, Listen and Provide) team.
The HELP team brings together experience and knowledge from across the University's support services. They will be your friendly first point of contact for any questions or support requests you have. The team will be able to answer a range of questions, and, when needed, they will pass your query on to specialist staff, giving you access to specialist support when you need it.
