Innovation and Technology for Sustainable Organisations (ITSO) Research Group
This research group is led by Muhammad Salman Shabbir.
The Innovation and Technology for Sustainable Organisations (ITSO) Research Group explores the transformative role of innovation, artificial intelligence (AI), and emerging technologies in modern organisations.
Our research focuses on how technological advancements drive sustainable development, enhance organisational resilience, and contribute to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals.
Research focus
The group investigates key themes at the intersection of technology, sustainability, and business transformation, including:
- AI-driven innovation and decision-making in organisations.
- The impact of digital transformation on business sustainability.
- Technology-enabled solutions for ESG and corporate responsibility.
- Smart organisations: integrating AI, IoT, and automation.
- Ethical AI and responsible innovation in business.
- Technology adoption and change management in enterprises.
- The role of digital ecosystems in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Our approach
The ITSO Research Group applies interdisciplinary and applied research methods, leveraging both quantitative and qualitative approaches such as case studies, industry collaborations, big data analytics, and experimental research. Our work is aimed at informing business strategies, policymaking, and sustainable leadership practices.
Faculty mentorship and collaboration
A unique aspect of ITSO is its mentorship model, where faculty members guide and support peers in integrating innovative technologies and sustainable strategies into their teaching, research, and professional development. The group serves as a knowledge hub for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to collaborate and share best practices. We actively engage with industry leaders, policymakers, and academic institutions to ensure that our research contributes to real-world challenges, fostering responsible technological progress that aligns with SDG targets and ESG principles.
Engagement and opportunities
- Regular research seminars and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Collaborative projects with industry and policymakers.
- Funding support for AI and innovation-related research.
- PhD and faculty research mentorship Publication.
- Dissemination of research findings through conferences, journals, and policy briefs.
