Your course welcome
Tutors and lecturers from each of your courses have written to welcome you to your new course. To see their suggested summer reading, an outline of your first semester, or other information they have shared, simply select your course to read your letter.
Key dates
Now that the countdown to your university experience has begun, make sure you're familiar with the important dates you need to know.
21 to 22 September: Arrivals Weekend
This weekend is when you will arrive in York and move into your university accommodation.
Monday 23 to Friday 27 September: Welcome Week begins
Join us for a whole series of Welcome Week activities for new and returning students, including YSJFest and Students' Union events. Your academic induction sessions will also take place during Welcome Week.
Monday 30 September: Teaching begins
Teaching for your degree course will begin in the week commencing 30 September.

Social media groups
Currently, we have 1 official Facebook group for new students: York St John University Freshers.
This group is run by our Students' Union. Any other Facebook groups or Whatsapp chats/groups are not run by York St John staff.
Our official 2024 to 2025 Facebook accommodation groups will be live after A Level results day.
MyYSJ: your personalised student app
As soon as you have got your University login details, and you have logged into Moodle and eVision on a browser for the first time, you can access your personalised student app, MyYSJ. You must log into Moodle and eVision first before you can use all the features of the MyYSJ app.
On MyYSJ, you'll be able to:
- Check your emails
- View your timetable
- Register your attendance
- Access Moodle
- See important updates from across the University
You can access your MyYSJ dashboard on a desktop computer, laptop or download the app on you Apple or Android smartphone.
