Your new home
Moving into and living in university accommodation is a key part of student life at York St John. Here's everything you need to prepare for your new home.

Living in University accommodation
If you have decided to live in York St John managed accommodation, you have a lot to look forward to. When you move into your new home and settle into your new surroundings and meet your new housemates, it's a time you won't forget.
Before you arrive
Before you move in to your new accommodation, you will need to complete a few tasks. You should:
- Complete your online induction through the Accommodation hub. The induction will give you an overview of the support you can expect while living with us as well as important health and safety information.
- You will be able to book an arrival time slot at the end of the induction which you will need to do before you can collect your keys on Arrival’s Weekend.
We will email all students when our induction goes live, this may go to your personal email address as entered on UCAS or to your new YSJ email address. Inductions are due to go live from 11.00am on Tuesday 18 August.

You can also join our official Facebook groups for your accommodation site. For data protection reasons we can't share the details of who you will be living with, but you may be able to find some of your flatmates in these social media groups.
We will start to allow students into our Facebook groups from Tuesday 18 August. See your site Facebook group below.

Please note that you may not find all of your future housemates if they do not join the group. For data protection reasons we can't share the details of who you will be living with.
Arrivals Weekend
Most students will move into their accommodation on Arrivals Weekend. This year, Arrivals Weekend takes place on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September 2026.

If you are staying in one of our partner accommodation sites, please contact them directly for arrival arrangements, as their dates may differ.
Arriving on another date
There are some circumstances where you may arrive on another date.
If you are part of our Early Start programme, you may arrive a few days before Arrivals Weekend.
If you need to arrive after Arrivals Weekend, you will need to collect your keys from the Porters Lodge or Security Office on campus. Please let us know if you are planning to arrive after Arrivals Weekend by emailing accommodation@yorksj.ac.uk.
