Living in University accommodation

If you have decided to live in halls, you have a lot to look forward to. When you move into your new home on arrival day and meet your housemates, it's a day you won't forget. Now is the time you can start getting things together to turn your room into your home your place to study, socialise, relax and have fun.

Before you arrive

Before you move in to your new accommodation, you will need to complete a few tasks. You should:

  • Complete your online induction through the Accommodation hub. This includes an induction video and fire safety introduction, and will help you get to know your accommodation.
  • Book an arrival time slot through our online system. Bookings will open in summer and you will receive more information by email.

You can follow us on social media to stay up to date with important information:

You will also be able to join official Facebook groups for your accommodation site over the summer. For data protection reasons we can't share the details of who you will be living with, but you may be able to find some of your flatmates in these social media groups.

Arrivals Weekend

Arrivals Weekend 2024 for York St John University accommodation will be taking place on Saturday 21 to Sunday 22 September. Detailed information about accommodation arrivals will be available in summer 2024.

If you are staying in one of our partner accommodation sites, please contact them directly for arrival arrangements, as their dates may differ.

Arriving on another date

The majority of our students will arrive in accommodation during the 2 days of Arrivals Weekend. However, there are some circumstances where you may arrive on another date.

If you are part of our Early Start programme, you may arrive the week before Arrivals Weekend. Find out more on our Early Start programme page, or email autismsuccesspathway@yorksj.ac.uk.

If you need to arrive after Arrivals Weekend, you will need to collect your keys from the Porters Lodge or Security Office on campus. Please let us know if you are planning to arrive after 22 September by emailing accommodation@yorksj.ac.uk.

Accommodation queries

If you have questions about your accommodation or need to talk to someone about adjustment requirements, you can contact our Accommodation team. You can email them at accommodation@yorksj.ac.uk.
