York St John Creative Centre

A space for performance, creative practice and technology at the heart of our campus.

The York St John Creative Centre is a purpose-built, 3-storey creative space where bold architecture meets innovative facilities.

The Creative Centre opened in 2022 and is home to our music and computer science courses. It also contains specialist spaces for our theatre, drama, creative writing, and media production students.

Specialist facilities

The theatre

The centrepiece of the Creative Centre is the 157-seat theatre with a large stage and state of the art lighting and sound systems. The theatre hosts live student performances, community events and high profile conferences.

Computer science facilities

A whole floor of purpose-built teaching rooms offers the latest high-specification hardware for computer science, software engineering and games development. We work with the Institute of Technology for Yorkshire and the Humber to deliver teaching and research side by side.

Music and performance spaces

The Creative Centre provides a base for music students at York St John. Facilities include specialist teaching spaces and acoustically-protected practice and performance rooms.
