Attend our weekly academic discussion group
Join our weekly discussion group, on Thursdays from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. Try out your discussion and argument skills on academic topics. Practise critical thinking and giving your opinion, with no assessments or preparation needed.
The discussion group takes place on Microsoft Teams. Use the link below to join a meeting.

Attend a workshop
The Insessional Support and Language Development team (ISLD) run workshops during the study year to help you improve the language and skills you need for successful participation in your university studies. These are open to all York St John students.
There are 2 types of workshops:
- Language Support Workshops (LS): Help with the key language and skills for your lectures, presentations, seminars and assignments
- English Language for Study Development (ELSD): The language you need to participate successfully in the Study Development workshops this semester.
All sessions will take place remotely through Microsoft Teams. You can find details on our workshop series and register your place below.
