York St John Students Union
York St John Students' Union (YSJSU) is the hub of student life here at York St John University. We do all we can to make sure that you have the best time possible at University.
When you register at York St John you will be asked to opt in to the Students' Union. As a member of the Students' Union, you can join a sport or society, vote in our annual elections, join our loyalty programme and much more.
The SU is run by students, for students. Every year you will elect 3 Presidents who will lead the SU in making positive change for students. Our job is to represent the student body in all aspects of university life. Presidents are supported by Student Officers, including Liberation Officers, Chairs of School, and Academic Reps. We aim to make sure that our diverse student voice is heard and represented.

Study spaces on campus
We know that having the right place to learn is important. It can motivate you, inspire you, or help you to focus. We have study spots set up across campus so you can find the place that works for you.
Library
The library is located in our Fountains Learning Centre. It's home to study spaces, books, printers and laptop loans. There is a mixture of open access study space (no booking required) and bookable study space. If you would like to book your study space you can do this online before travelling to the library.
Holgate building
In Holgate you will find a number of study pods. These include screens that connect to your laptops and they have space for you to spread out as you study. We have bookable pods too so you know you can get one when you need it.
Students' Union
The Students' Union Lounge is a comfortable and relaxing space to study until late.
The great outdoors
If fresh air helps you focus we have several green areas on campus. Take a seat in one of our award winning gardens and let nature inspire you. You will find benches across campus and sweeping lawns at the front of campus and outside our dining rooms.
Finding your way around
Our friendly staff members will be on campus to help you find your way around. You can also visit our digital campus map to help you find your way around and understand the room naming system. It can also show you places to get food in the local area, places to park and where key services are located.
You'll know your way around in no time, but until then, our map can help you.
