Okayama University is a national university with over 140 years of history.
The university has 11 faculties, 8 graduate schools and various programs. You can gain a unique learning experience which will positively impact the future success of your academic and professional career.
Okayama Prefecture is located in the centre of West Japan. As the climate is very mild, with low rainfall, this area has thriving agriculture, specialising in fruit products such as Muscat grapes and white peaches. Okayama University is located so close to Okayama central station that you can get there in only ten minutes by car. The bullet train takes 60 minutes to Kyoto, and you can get to Tokyo in 3 and a half hours.

Choosing your modules
You need to gain the following credits from your modules:
- 12 to 16 Japanese credits per semester
- 24 to 32 Japanese credits per year

Visas
Please make sure you have an up to date passport that expires no earlier than 6 months after you intend to return.
You will be provided with guidance and documentation from the partner university but it will be your responsibility to obtain the correct visa. Neither the Study Abroad team here or at the partner university are qualified to offer consultations or detailed advice regarding visa applications. Immigration laws are complex and subject to frequent changes.

Costs of studying

Students are required to pay into:
- Japanese National Insurance, costing approximately 20,000 JPY per year
- Gakkensai (personal accident insurance), costing approximately 1,000 JPY per year
- Futai-Gakuso (comprehensive insurance), costing approximately 1,860 JPY per year
