Satakunta University of Applied Sciences is a small university of just over 6,000 students, across 4 campuses.

It has over 300 international students and runs events such as an International Café and get together days. It is number 1 for applied sciences universities outside of the metropole area for graduate employment. It has been in the top 6 universities for graduate satisfaction with tuition since 2005.

Pori is the tenth largest city in Finland, and is situated in the south west. It has rail, bus and air connections to a number of cities, including Helsinki to the east and Stockholm in Sweden, across the Gulf of Bothnia. There are also seasonal flights to ski resorts in Lapland.

Choosing your modules

You need to gain the following credits from your modules:

  • 27 to 30 ECTS (European) credits per semester
  • 54 to 60 ECTS (European) credits per year

Academic calendar

The academic year is split into 2 semesters: 

  • Semester 1: Late August or early September to late December 
  • Semester 2: Early January to mid June.

Satakunta University will assist exchange students in finding accommodation from the private housing market. There are several options available, and the rent varies according to the size, location and facilities of the chosen apartment.
