Staff Profile

Dr Julian Thompson

Senior Lecturer in Mathematical Sciences

I graduated from the University of Kent with a BSc in Mathematics and returned to complete an MSc in Applied Mathematics. I read for a PhD in Applied Mathematics at the University of East Anglia before several positions as a Postdoctoral Researcher at University College London and Loughborough University.

Teaching

I am a lecturer on the Data Science Degree Apprenticeship course teaching 1DS005 Analysis & Optimisation and 2SD004 Geometry & Groups.

Research

My main research focus is fluid dynamics, which includes topics in surfactant laden flows and tsunami propagation.
