Payment for External Examiners
We do our best to ensure that all of our External Examiners are paid promptly for the work they do with us.
Payment
On appointment, you will be/would have been asked to complete a bank details form. This enables us to make payments directly into your account on submission of your end of year report.
FEES For External Examiners appointed from 1 June 2024 onwards
External Examiners appointed from 1 June 2024 onwards will receive a set fee of £400 (for one programme). Payment is triggered on the timely receipt of the annual report.
A fee of £50 is paid for an additional programme(s) within the same subject area.
A fee of £150, plus expenses, is paid per visit. The timings and parameter of any such visit will be clearly set out.
FEES For External Examiners appointed prior to 1 June 2024
Payments are calculated according to an agreed Schedule of Payments for External Examiners (pdf, 15.6kB)
If you have not received your payment automatically you can contact your Programme Administration and Support Services (PASS) administrator with any queries.
Expenses
Expenses can be claimed for costs incurred in travel or subsistence. Our subsistence rates are noted on the back of the form for your information.
