Equipment for students

iPads

On the York campus, you can borrow an iPad from the Information Services desk in Fountains. They cannot be reserved in advance. Student iPads can be borrowed for a maximum of 1 week and cannot be renewed.

Laptops

You can borrow laptops directly from laptop lockers on our York campus in Fountains and Holgate, on our Haxby Road sports campus, and on our London campus. They cannot be reserved in advance.

When you borrow a laptop from Fountains and Holgate you will be able to keep it for 3 days.

When you borrow a laptop from Haxby Road you will be able to keep it for 4 hours.

When you borrow a laptop from our London campus you will be able to keep it for 1 week.

At the end of the borrowing period, you must return the laptop to the building and laptop locker you borrowed it from. It is not possible to renew laptops as they are in high demand.

Recorders and video cameras

On our York campus, you must reserve this type of equipment in advance using the Media Loans system.

Using Media Loans, you can also:

• Check on availability and loan periods for equipment
• Get a reminder in your calendar to pick up your equipment, and get an email when it is due
• Get email notification of overdue items
• Check the status of your account, including bookings and fines

Sign in using your York St John username and password. Reserved items can be picked up from the ITS Service Centre on the 1st floor of the Holgate building.

Some Schools also loan out specialist media equipment for use in class projects.

Equipment for staff

On our York campus, staff must reserve this type of equipment in advance using the Media Loans system.
