How to complete your enrolment

Complete these steps to enrol on your York St John University course.

When you have completed all the steps below, you will be able to:

  • Use the library
  • Use computing facilities
  • Receive your University Student ID card (if you are eligible as a home student)
  • Have your student loan payments initiated (if applicable)

The final date for enrolment is 2 weeks after the start of your course. After that date, access to online enrolment will be denied and you will need to contact the Student Records team at studentrecords@yorksj.ac.uk.

Receive your enrolment email

Before you can begin, you need to get your enrolment email from our Registry team.

Your enrolment email will contain your Student ID number and enrolment key.

If you have not received your email, please do not worry. Contact studentrecords@yorksj.ac.uk and our friendly team will be able to help.

Create your IT account

You will need your enrolment key and a digital photograph. A photograph is required for ID purposes and will be used for your Student ID card, if you are eligible for one.

Your photo should:

  • Be in a similar style to a passport photo
  • Be a recent colour photograph taken against a pale background
  • Be of you alone (no other people or pets)
  • Show you facing forwards with your head and shoulders filling 80% of the frame
  • Show your full face and eyes clearly
  • Be in JPEG format, at least 300px by 300px in size

Enrol online

As part of this process you will be asked to confirm your personal details and provide information about how you will be funding your course.

Log into the enrolment portal

Please note, you will not be able to log in until you have your enrolment details.

Complete student registration

Every student must complete their online student registration. It is how we know you are ready to start your course. Registration will open a few days before the start date of your degree. You will be sent an email informing you when this is available to you.

You must complete the online registration stage in order to become fully enrolled at the University. It is vital that you register as soon as possible because this creates the formal contract between you and the University.

You will need to log back into your student account in e:Vision.

You will be asked to:

  • Confirm your personal details and programme of study

Only after you have completed student registration will you be able to:

  • Use the library
  • Use computing facilities
  • Receive your university Student ID Card (if you eligible as a home student)
  • Have your student loan payments initiated (if applicable)

If you are coming to study on a Student Visa, please email the following to visa@yorksj.ac.uk:

  • European students: your visa result email and your verification share code
  • Non-European students: photo of your entry clearance vignette (in your passport) and photos of both sides of your BRP card (if delivered to a Post Office). If your BRP is delivered to the York Campus, you will need to contact visa@yorksj.ac.uk to make an appointment to collect your BRP.

If you are coming to study on a Standard Visitor visa, please email the following to visa@yorksj.ac.uk:

  • Photo of your passport photo/data page
  • Photo of any entry stamp you received at the UK border
  • Photo of any entry visa you received (if you had to apply in advance for one)

Please be advised that you will be unable to be issued your student ID card or other letters you may require from the University until the relevant documents above have been provided to the Visa and Compliance team.

Collect your student ID card

Please note that you will need to bring a form of photo ID with you when you collect your Student ID card.

You will be able to collect your Student ID card once you have completed student registration and are fully enrolled.
