How long is the programme?

45 tutored guided learning hours and 96 independent learning hours, including the completion of individual learning tasks.

The guided learning hours will take place on 1 half and 5 full days of tutor led delivery through York St John University's online learning platform. There will be some flexibility on when this material can be accessed, although we recommend setting aside the assigned days for study.

Although you will be expected to carry out some work within your own time, additional release time will be needed for some of the tasks, including a half day prior to the course to complete a pre-course task and a half day to complete final assessment tasks.

How will I be assessed?

Course assessment will be a mixture of formal written assignments, group based tasks and group discussion. You will also be required to arrange two observations of your PE teaching by a colleague or senior leader within your own school during the course.

Session times

The first day is a welcome event where we will introduce you to the course and we also cover some of the content in this first session.

The other five study days will each start with an introductory session 9.30am – 11.00am, provide time during the day to access pre-recorded course materials and complete online tasks, and finish with a round up session 4.00pm - 5.00pm, where the assessment task for that unit will be explained.

There will be an opportunity for each student to book an online tutorial for each unit if they require more support with the course material and/or assessment task.

Further qualifications

There is also an optional 2 day bolt on to include the Level 6 in Primary PE Leadership. Please contact for details.
