UCAS Extra

If you have already applied through UCAS and are not holding any offers you may be eligible for UCAS Extra.

UCAS Extra 2024

UCAS Extra opened on Wednesday 28 February 2024. It will be open until Thursday 4 July 2024.

What is UCAS Extra?

UCAS Extra is a free service offered by UCAS that lets you add 1 more university choice. You can use UCAS Extra if you've used up all 5 of your course choices and don't hold an offer.

It's a great way to get a place at York St John University without having to wait for the Clearing process to start.

Who can apply

You can use UCAS Extra if you have:

  • Used up all your 5 course choices and don't hold an offer
  • Declined all your offers
  • Changed your mind and withdrawn your choices

UCAS will send you all the details you need to apply if you become eligible.

How to apply

Find courses available through UCAS Extra on the UCAS website.

You can make your application on the UCAS website.

UCAS Extra doesn't let you submit a new online personal statement or reference. However, you can send us a new statement or reference directly if you're applying for a course that's not related to your first 5 choices. Remember to include your UCAS application number so we can match the statement to your application.

If you would like to contact our Admissions team before you apply, we will be able to advise you on whether we would be able to make an offer or not.

UCAS Extra offers

If we make you an offer, you can either accept it as a firm choice or decline it. There is only 1 choice at any time in UCAS Extra so an insurance choice is not an option. You will be given a deadline to reply to your offer.

If you don't get an offer after 21 days, or you decline your offer, you can make another UCAS Extra choice. You can do this as many times as you need to until UCAS Extra closes.
