The International Entrepreneurship and Innovation MSc combines the fundamentals and cutting-edge principles of innovation and entrepreneurship. These will be applied to authentic scenarios to prepare you for your future career. You will learn about topics including:

The content of this course is rooted in the principles of sustainable approaches, ethical practice and cultural context.

You can also gain knowledge and develop your skills with with our Venture Creation Lab (VCL), which focuses on identifying and devising entrepreneurial activities. Guest lectures will be delivered by industry experts with extensive experience.

You will gain the knowledge necessary for a career both as an intrapreneur or entrepreneur, including the ability to:

  • Assess the commercial viability and ethical attributes of a business start up
  • Critically appraise resources required to facilitate globally minded, entrepreneurial growth 
  • Critically examine the factors that contribute to entrepreneurial success and failure 
  • Analytically assess principals of sustainability that contribute toward entrepreneurial endeavours 

This will prepare you for an entrepreneurial career leading business ventures or making an impact within organisations as an employee.

You can choose to study this course with a professional experience year, allowing you to apply your learning to real workplace scenarios. This valuable experience will help you in your future career and give you a competitive edge in the competitive job market. Course structure

How you will study

You can study this postgraduate course full time or part time. This allows you to fit your studies around other commitments.

If you choose to study full time the course will take 1 year to complete. You will study:

  • 6 compulsory modules across two semesters
  • 1 course length Research Project (dissertation) module

If you choose to study part time the course will take 2 years to complete and the modules will be split across both years.

Analyse the process of a business start-up from conception through to execution. Learn how to identify entrepreneurial characteristics and skills, and how to attribute these to entrepreneurial success or failure. Discuss the impact of contemporary issues and major conceptual debates. You will be encouraged to reflect on your own abilities and aspirations and will be assisted in the assessment of your entrepreneurial skills.

Creativity and innovation play an important role in product and service development, enabling business owners to align with shifts in consumer needs. Gain experience taking creative concepts through to a well-defined idea that can be implemented. You will have the opportunity to engage with real business challenges and use creative problem solving to find innovative solutions.

Entrepreneurship involves seeking and identifying customer trends and industry environments. On this module you will become familiar with the identification of a target market and designing a marketing strategy based on their needs. Explore how digitally focused tactics can be combined with traditional marketing methods create an effective marketing campaign.

Before entrepreneurs launch a new venture, both costs and revenues must be planned. Develop the knowledge and skills needed to calculate the financing needs of a new or growing business. You will investigate traditional entrepreneurial fundraising alongside emerging strategies.

Global expansion requires considering a growth strategy that can take business operations, products, and services into international target markets. On this module you will learn how to plan a growth strategy, including selecting a country and analysing factors relevant to business expansion. Develop an awareness of issues relating to international governance and compare market entry approaches.

Constant advancements in digitalisation can provide new market opportunities and a source of competitive advantage. Evaluate sources of disruption and explore the contribution of digital platforms to strategic decision making. We will teach you about contemporary and emerging technologies, such as the metaverse. By the end of this module you will be able to enable digital disruption within a start-up or growing enterprise.

Undertake an independent research project on a contemporary issue within the field of entrepreneurship and innovation. You will investigate, analyse and develop creative solutions to reach evidence-based conclusions. You can focus on a topic that relates to your personal interests and career aspirations as either an entrepreneur or intrapreneur. Taught sessions will explore research methodology and data analysis techniques.

Professional experience

Professional experience is the perfect opportunity to enhance your career prospects and deepen your understanding of your subject area. You can undertake a 12 month or 24 month professional experience route, depending on if you are studying full or part time. We offer support in looking for placement opportunities through the London Student Opportunities Team. While there is no guarantee you will secure a placement, as this decision sits entirely with employers, we can guarantee you will have access to professional experience through our Venture Creation Lab (VCL).

  • £9,300 per year for the first year full time, and £1,395 for your professional experience year (£10,695 in total)
  • £5,150 per year part time, and £1,395 for your professional placement year (£10,695 in total)
