Primary School Physical Education Subject Leadership Level 6 Award
This 2 day course, developed by AfPE and Sports Leaders UK, will provide you with a professional qualification and the knowledge, skills and confidence to lead outstanding PE.
This is a recognised qualification delivered by subject specialists in a Higher Education environment. The purpose of this award is for primary Physical Education leaders to better understand their role and responsibilities in designing, leading and evaluating a targeted strategy for primary school PE.

Unit 7: Lead sustainable development within primary school education
Who can apply?
To be eligible to undertake the Level 6 Award, you must be either a primary or secondary school teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) status and have completed the Level 5 certificate in Primary School Physical Education Subject Leadership (either at York St John University or elsewhere).
How long is the programme?
18 tutored guided learning hours and 38 independent learning hours, including the completion of individual learning tasks.

Session times
This is a degree level qualification and as the course has a minimum teaching hours requirement, you will need to attend all study sessions in addition to completing tasks in between these sessions.

Course leader biographies
Simon Kumar – centre course manager and tutor/assessor
Graduated from York St John University with a first class degree in (BA) Sports Studies. After completing a Masters in Practitioner Research, Simon is now undertaking a Professional Doctorate of Education. After teaching in primary education as a teacher specialising in Physical Education for a number of years,
Simon became a lecturer at York St John University in 2015. Simon also has a background in disability sport development, personal training, sports coaching, secondary school sport development and the Armed Forces, and was the founder of inclusive sport at York St John University.
