Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression Training

Learn to provide depression-specific therapy for individual clients in an IAPT setting.

The Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD) programme trains counsellors to provide a depression-specific therapy for individual clients in an IAPT setting. It provides CPD for Counsellors who are already trained in person-centred or humanistic approaches and who have significant clinical experience.

  • Location – York campus or can be delivered for organisations offsite
  • Duration – Five-day study day
  • Start date – 28-30 Oct and 7-8 Nov 2019/ 2-4 March and 12-13 March 2020

Course information

The CfD CPD training provides continuing professional development for counsellors who are already trained in person-centred or humanistic approaches and who have significant clinical experience. The course consists of a five-day taught programme, followed by a period of supervised clinical work. The CfD programme trains counsellors to provide a depression-specific therapy for individual clients in an IAPT setting.

Essential  Desirable
Qualifications  

Diploma in humanistic or person centred counselling or psychotherapy

Evidence of working towards BACP Counsellor/Psychotherapy accreditation or equivalent

Postgraduate qualification in humanistic or person centred counselling or psychotherapy.

Current BACP counsellor/psychotherapy accreditation or equivalent.

Qualification to provide clinical supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists (e.g. Certificate or Diploma in Supervision).

Experience  

Minimum two year post qualifying experience to providing brief counselling to clients with common mental health problems, particularly depression.

Experience of providing clinical supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists in organisational settings.
Other  

Opportunity to undertake 80 hours of client practice with depressed clients.

Support of Line Manager to participate.

Support of Supervisor to participate.

Support of SHA/Commissioner to participate, if funding is being sought.

 

Both cohorts of the 19/20 Counselling for Depression Counsellor training are now fully booked.

Applications are currently being added to a waiting list (subject to acceptance).

Bookings are taken on a first come first serve basis.

Your application will then be assessed against the eligibility criteria, we will then notify you via email if you have been successful in securing a place on the course, or not.

Closing date for applications is three weeks prior to the start of the course.

Joining instructions will be sent out two weeks prior to the start of the course.
