Staff profile of Benjamin Mason

Hello I am Benjamin!!! I have recently finished my degree LLB in Law here at York St John. I am passionate about studying and research that develops our understanding of complex and interesting topics. I specialised in legal philosophy and how the law is constructed and implemented. Along side this I am a research assistant for a lecturer at York St John researching our understanding of career outcome of Law students and how we can better develop participation in career events.

My role includes coordinating outreach projects for Care leavers and Primary outreach this includes, visiting primary schools and attempting to get more people interested in higher education that would not usually think it is an option. As part of the Student Recruitment and Widening Participation team, I also assist with Open and Decision Days, as well as attending careers and Higher Education fairs across the country (although mostly in Yorkshire). I am extremely passionate that Higher education is an opportunity that everyone should have but I do understand that is not the right decision for everyone.

Outside of work I am a massive disability rights advocate regularly attending events to support disabled people and create more equality in Higher Education and in society. Also, I am a massive fan of hill walking and living in nature with my father.
