Dr Yang Lu

Associate Professor

Before I joined York St John University in 2021, I worked at the University of Kent as a postdoctoral researcher on PriVELT: PRIvacy-aware personal data management and Value Enhancement for Leisure Travellers, an EPSRC-funded project (2018 to 2021).

I did my PhD in eHealth, cyber security, artificial intelligence, and semantic web technology at the University of Melbourne, Australia (2014 to 2018).

My research interests include information security, trustworthy data space, privacy protection in the cyber-physical world, social media, and digital solutions in smart cities.

I supervise students at undergraduate, MSc by research, and PhD levels. Enquiries from prospective postgraduate students are always welcome.

Research

My research interests include Cyber Security (human privacy, information security, digital footprints, and privacy policy), Semantic Web Engineering, Trustworthy Data Sharing, Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing, Blockchain, and Digital Supply Chains in the sectors of health, food and agriculture, as well as manufacturing.
