Additional costs

This information is about additional costs of studying at this host university. Please be aware that prices are subject to change, and the list may not be exhaustive.

We recommend looking at the host website, as well as entry requirements for the country, to get a full understanding of the costs involved.

Students are required to pay into the National Health Insurance of Korea (NHIK). The cost of this (based on June 2022) is 55,630 KRW per month.

Students have to purchase an Alien Registration Card within 90 days of arrival into South Korea, which costs 30,000 KRW.

Visit the Kyungpook National University website for information about the Korean National Health Service.

A TB test is needed for checking in for KNU accommodation on arrival. The date must not be older than 2 months at the time of check in.

A deposit of between $600-$1000 (depending on the meal plan) is due at check in. The remaining invoice amount will be given on arrival, and will need paying with a couple of days. The amount varies, depending on how many meals are chosen, however KNU recommend not choosing the full-time meal plan, as students can use other on campus cafeterias and off campus restaurants. Meal plans are 411,810 KRW per semester for 1 meal a day, 695,200 KRW per semester for 2 meals a day, or 825,790 KRW for 3 meals a day.

Please make sure you have an up to date passport that expires no earlier than 6 months after you intend to return.
