York St John is right at the heart of the business community, making it a wonderful place to study.
This is because we offer an experience beyond teaching and studying your chosen course. The York Business School has many opportunities for students to engage with and learn from, as well as core beliefs in responsibility, sustainability and opportunity.
Here is what sets us apart and makes us The One:

Through your time with us, you will learn how to become innovators in ethical and sustainable business practices. We want to change the world for the better and make you an integral part of that.
Founded on the core beliefs of responsibility, sustainability and opportunity, York Business School has been a signatory of the United National Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME) since November 2014. We are committed to advancing the PRME in our teaching, partnerships and research, and have made considerable progress over the course of the last 8 years. We will continue to advance the principles of PRME in all aspects of our work.
York Business School has forged deep and meaningful links with local institutions, building professional relationships built on trust, integrity and a determination to support York in developing as a leading city for ethical and sustainable business. The Business School works with companies such as Nestlé, The Grand Hotel, and Forum of the Future, inviting them to discuss current sustainability issues in their sector with our students. York Business School purposefully interacts with managers of business corporations to extend the knowledge of our students, sharing their challenges in meeting social and environmental responsibilities. Our aim is to facilitate students and businesses to collaborate in building solutions that meet these challenges. To do this, York Business School has built a wealth of partnerships both with external business organisations in the city of York and globally.

Our Success Lab program offers a series of events to enhance our student’s employability. These events are not just limited to the curriculum of study but will sit alongside your degree courses. Every year, we host and facilitate guest speakers, short courses, site visits, employability boot camps and conferences. Through this, you can gain extra qualifications in copywriting, Sage accounting and public speaking. Previous guests have been CEO’s from Royal Mail, Welcome to Yorkshire, Pandora and many more. Success Lab is a brilliant opportunity to engage with the wider business community, allowing students to participate in activities that will prepare you for success.

Charlotte Accounting and Finance
This course specifically has been very business focused in terms of its made me feel as though I’m prepared for going into the ‘working world’. It wasn’t just a subject course, most modules related to real life and real goings on in the business world.
