Exploring Spirituality
Course length: 6 weeks
Learning type: On campus learning
This 6 week course will offer you a chance to further explore the meaning of spirituality. Spirituality touches so much of our lives, whether through the things that give us meaning and purpose, or the things that lift our spirits and bring us hope and connection.
The course will include learning about some lesser-known religions, with at least 1 visiting speaker. We will also explore some of the many nonreligious paths to the spiritual, for example through poetry, story or contact with nature.
Everyone is welcome to attend, you don't need to be religious.
Exploring Tea Ceremony
Course length: 8 weeks
Learning type: On campus learning
Exploring Tea Ceremony will provide you with a practical introduction to cultural studies and philosophy through the art of making tea and will draw on different cultural perspectives using tea as a way to explore traditions and cultural beliefs, etiquettes and history.
The course will also cover aspects of East Asian philosophy related to traditional tea ceremonies including Confucianism, Taoism and Zen Buddhism as a way of exploring belief structures and themes of cultural belonging.
Reading Through Time
Course length: 8 weeks
Learning type: On campus learning
Converge students will be introduced to ways in which literature can be influenced by the culture and historical moment in which it was created. This provides a richer appreciation of the text as well as a fuller understanding of the time in which it was produced. Throughout the course, students will be shown the tools they need to research the past for themselves, so they will be able to analyse writing they see in their daily life through the lens of history. This is an introductory course suitable for students with any level of experience and an interest in literature.
It's about humanity, and it's about being connected. And it's about supporting one another and being in a community.
