7. Returning Marks and Feedback
This stage is about informing students of the outcomes of their assessments. The JISC Guide explains that marks and feedback can be returned together or separately, and may be returned in a variety of formats.
In line with University policy, students should receive their marks and feedback three weeks after the assignment deadline. They should be made aware that marks are always subject to final approval by the assessment board.
The return of marked work and feedback will depend on the type of assignment task, as well as on the type of feedback being used. This should form part of the feedback plan made during phase two - Setting. Electronic submissions would normally be returned to students using the same tool with which they were submitted for marking.
Moodle has some feedback management features which are designed to help tutors who have large cohorts of students. These enable tutors to perform actions in bulk, rather than individually, including uploading student grades and student feedback to a Moodle assignment.
To bulk upload student grades into a Moodle assignment you need to use the assignments grading worksheet. The grading worksheet is a spreadsheet which contains a row for each student enrolled on the course. Tutors are able to download the spreadsheet then enter grades and comments which can be loaded back into Moodle in one single action.
The upload multiple files feature enables tutors to send response files back to students in one single action, rather than having to upload them individually.
