Accessibility statement for the Library Catalogue

This statement applies to the York St John University Library Catalogue.

This accessibility statement applies to prism.librarymanagementcloud.co.uk/yorksj, which is an instance of the Library Management Cloud 'Prism' catalogue provided by Education Software Solutions to York St John University. It includes custom design elements that are specific to York St John University.

As the third-party provider of this website, Education Software Solutions (ESS) have published a separate accessibility statement for the default (un-themed) version of Prism.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Visible focus is missing on the submit button for the search input field in the website header and on the 'New search' page. This fails WCAG 2.4.7 (Focus Visible). We plan to address this issue by the end of October 2024.

At 200% zoom some content is cut off or no longer visible. The search button in the website header is partially cut off, and the 'Refine search' button in search results pages is no longer visible. This fails WCAG 1.4.4 (Resize Text). ESS plan to address this issue by the end of October 2024.

The search bar element on the 'New search' page is missing a label. This fails WCAG criteria 4.1.2 (Name, Role, Value). ESS plan to address this issue by the end of January 2025.

The 'New search' page is missing the required parent element for the ARIA child roles. This fails WCAG 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships). ESS plan to address this issue by the end of January 2025.

A small number of pages have touch targets which do not have sufficient size or spacing. This fails WCAG 2.5.8 (Target Size (Minimum)). ESS plan to address this issue by the end of January 2025.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

Following an accessibility audit in June 2024, we have worked with ESS to address the issues that were raised. The list of outstanding accessibility issues above has been updated accordingly.

Working with ESS, we are continuing to re-test and work on the issues that are specific to our Prism tenancy. We aim to address these by the end of October 2024.

ESS are continuing to re-test and work on the issues that apply to the default Prism product. These are detailed in ESS' separate accessibility statement. ESS plan to address these issues by the end of January 2025.

This statement was prepared on 10 September 2024. It was last reviewed on 10 September 2024. It is next scheduled to be reviewed in July 2025.

This website was last tested on 10 September 2024 against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.

The test was carried out internally. A selection of the most viewed pages was tested using the Deque Axe automated testing tool.
