Attendance monitoring

Registering your attendance

From September we will be implementing a new approach to attendance capture through the MyYSJ app.

This will make it easier for you to register attendance in sessions whether they are online or face to face, using a unique code provided by your tutor. If you don’t have access to the app now is a good time to download it.

Registering attendance is important as it will help us to get in touch with you in case of contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19.

Reporting an absence

If you are unable to attend one of your classes, let us know by using our report an absence form.

University Regulations on Attendance Monitoring

We have a responsibility to public authorities who finance programmes of study to ensure that students attend the courses they are registered to. We have a responsibility to encourage effective learning, leading to successful outcomes in assessments.

We also have responsibilities to the Home Office to monitor the attendance of international students whose presence in the UK depends on a visa for the purposes of higher education.
