In partnership with Make It York, York St John University will play a key role in hosting the Rugby League World Cup 2021 in York. In addition to hosting the Cook Islands women’s team, the University will hold Rugby League festivals for local schools, colleges and university students. Rugby League themed continued professional development (CPD) events will also be available for the local community to book, including sessions on coaching, sports science, leadership and more.

Becky Scott, YSJ Active Manager said: “As a major provider of sporting facilities in York and sponsor of York City Knights Rugby League team, York St John University is looking forward to welcoming the Cook Islands women’s team to our city. There’s just over 200 days to go until the women’s tournament begins and I’m really looking forward to seeing the World Cup teams in action.”

You can now secure your seat for any one of the 61 fixtures that take place later this year, across the men’s, women’s and wheelchair tournaments that will take place simultaneously for the first time across England.

Fans can purchase tickets via www.rlwc2021.com/tickets until Tuesday 1 June, where tickets will go off sale for a three-week period until Monday 21 June for seat assignment. In addition, RLWC2021 has also launched competing nations merchandise which is available via the RLWC2021 Official Shop.

Demand for tickets has already exceeded organisers expectations during the ballot period last year, with several fixtures only having limited availability remaining.

York will host six women’s group stage fixtures, and both semi-finals:

  • New Zealand vs France – Wednesday 10 November at 17:00
  • Australia vs Cook Islands – Wednesday 10 November at 19:30
  • New Zealand vs Cook Islands – Sunday 14 November at 17:00
  • Australia vs France – Sunday 14 November at 19:30
  • France vs Cook Islands – Thursday 18 November at 17:00
  • Australia vs New Zealand – Thursday 18 November at 19:30

  • Semi-final 2: Group A Winner vs Group B Runner-Up – Monday 22 November at 19:30

RLWC2021 are working alongside UK governing bodies to deliver a restriction free tournament, so that fans who have been missing live sporting action since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic have the opportunity to experience fixtures in full stadiums.

Tournament organisers have also issued a ticket refund guarantee for all ticket buyers should there be restrictions on crowds at the event and to reassure fans if any event has to be cancelled. More information is available here: rlwc2021.com/buy-with-confidence
