Staff and student research celebrated in York St John University London event

York St John University London has held its first-ever International Project Management (IPM) awards night. 
 
York St John’s IPM MSc gives students the opportunity to increase their employability and gain the necessary skills needed to work in a diverse range of international organisations and industries. 
 
The inaugural event was organised by IPM students and staff to showcase the project management skills taught in class, providing students with an opportunity to practically demonstrate their knowledge and abilities in a hands-on environment.  
 
The event also recognised and celebrated students and staff for their contributions to the program. Over 25 individuals were honoured for their positive impact on the London university community. 
 
One example of this was academic collaboration between York St John London master's degree students and their lecturers, leading to the successful publication of research papers and acceptance of their work at international conferences.  
 
A highlight of the evening was the ‘cultural swap’, in which students wore traditional attire from different countries, bringing together diverse backgrounds and traditions, to not only highlight the richness of various cultures on campus but to also reinforce the values of mutual respect and inclusivity.  
 
During the evening’s events, students also organised musical performances and a fashion show. 
 
Dr Olalekan Adisa, Senior Lecturer and Program Lead for IPM at the London Campus, said: “We have a strong research culture within our IPM program and the dedication of both students and faculty members to advancing knowledge in their respective fields has been outstanding. 
 
“Their contributions have not only enhanced their academic and professional development, but they have also strengthened the institution’s reputation in the global research community. 
 
“This evening was a true celebration of what is possible when we work together, and it was a proud and heartfelt moment for everyone involved.”
