The exhibition, entitled ‘There’s No Place Like Home’, recognises that York St John has been their creative home-from-home for the past three years and cements the University’s standing as the home of art and design talent in York. The event is the culmination of three years’ hard work by York St John University art and design students as they show off their creative achievements in a degree show with a difference.
There’s No Place Like Home, themed around the meaning of 'home', is the creative brainchild of Dr Rebekka Kill, Head of Art, Design and Computer Science at York St John, who said:
“There’s No Place Like Home is an exhilarating display of beautiful art and exciting visuals in an environment that will show the students’ work off perfectly. Our talented art and design students have worked incredibly hard over the last three years and their creative efforts have come home to roost. This year, home is where the art is – join us for a celebration of student talent and a visual feast of contemporary artwork, music and entertainment representing the diverse range of art and design courses we offer at York St John”.
‘There’s No Place Like Home’ will showcase students’ work across the studios and galleries around York St John’s historic Quad building at the heart of the University.
Members of the public are warmly invited to the launch party taking place on Friday 8 June where there will be presentations, opportunities to meet art and design students, a bar and live music. The opening night is free to attend – no ticket required – as is the rest of the exhibition, which runs until 15 June. For further details and opening times, please visit the York St John University Events page.
The launch event for There’s No Place Like Home is 6pm – 9pm on Friday 8 June and the show will continue daily until 15 June, 10am - 4pm.
