Highest rising northern university in The Sunday Times Guide 2019

York St John University has risen a significant 16 places in the 2019 Good University Guide, becoming one of the highest rising universities in the whole of the UK.

The Sunday Times guide highlighted that “after enrolling almost 50% more new undergraduates in two years, YSJ has climbed 16 places in our league table. It is not an easy combination to pull off, as rising numbers can stretch resources and make satisfaction levels plummet.  Instead, scores in the National Student Survey have risen and there has been a spectacular improvement in graduate prospects.”

Professor Karen Stanton, vice chancellor of York St John University, said: “Our ranking in the Sunday Times guide makes York St John University the fastest rising university in the region and shows that our work to offer an excellent student experience in addition to creating strong employment prospects is really making an impact.”

“We focus our efforts on opening up opportunities for our students, many of whom are from groups under-represented in Higher Education, including those that are first in their family to study at university.  Our success demonstrates the value of a university education for all our students and I’m delighted that our academic excellence and graduate prospects are reflected in this year’s guide.”

Overall, York St John climbed to 102nd place nationally, and was ranked in 50th place for both teaching quality and student experience.
