The results of the survey, carried out by the Office for Students, place the university 45th out of 121 higher education institutions in England based on responses from over 320,000 students nationwide.
The 2018 NSS questioned UK undergraduates on a range of aspects of their experience at university including teaching, academic support and learning resources. Students at York St John responded with scores over 90% for a number of academic courses and one of the highest rankings nationwide for the university’s library facilities.
Of the 27 questions presented in the survey, York St John students responded to 23 with a score that matched or was better than the national average.
Professor Karen Stanton, Vice Chancellor of York St John University welcomed the results, saying:
“Colleagues across the whole University have worked incredibly hard this year and every year to put students’ experience at the heart of what we do and I’m delighted that our students have responded positively as a result.
“An impressive 81% of our students responded to the survey, well above the national average of 70% and I am very proud of our staff and students at York St John for this successful outcome.”
