International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT)

Joint statement from York St John University and York St John University Students’ Union

At York St John University, we welcome the opportunity that this day brings to reinforce our stand against homo-, bi- and transphobia.

Many LGBTQ+ people don’t report the hate they experience because ‘it happens all the time’ or because they think nothing will be done about it. As a University, we will tackle prejudice and encourage anyone who experiences abuse or harassment to report it. Our concerns and complaints web page has information about how to report incidents and what support we provide. We also have a Trans and Non-Binary Inclusive Framework to support trans people, including those who identify as non-binary, genderqueer, and more.

This year, we are proud to once again sponsor York Pride on 18 June, where everyone is welcome, LGBTQ+ or not, alongside families, friends, colleagues and allies.  Contact Emily at LGBTstaff@yorksj.ac.uk if you would like to get involved.

Today, and every day, our York St John community stands united against homo-, bi- and transphobia.
