First cohorts of Executive MBA apprentices graduate at York Minster

This November York St John University’s first cohort of apprentices on the Executive MBA received their awards in York Minster.

19 apprentices gathered for their York Business School graduation ceremony, reuniting with their peers and academic support teams to celebrate their success in achieving the Masters degree. 

Graduation ceremonies in York Minster are a highlight of the student experience at York St John University. The Class of 2020 (and 2018 and 2019 apprentices) celebrated at the long-awaited ceremonies to mark the successful completion of their studies. 

The graduation ceremony was presided over by York St John University’s Chancellor, Reeta Chakrabarti and Vice Chancellor of York St John University, Professor Karen Bryan OBE.  

Executive MBA apprentice graduate Rob Williams, Head of Talent at VetPartners, comes from a clinical background but says the MBA really helped him to transition into his new role: “Being able to develop knowledge and skills related to business in such a practically-focused way was a big part of the attraction of the MBA at York St John. I gained a completely different perspective and way of viewing the world, decision-making, and a much clearer understanding of the role of a leader and leadership in whatever context you find yourself.” 

Degree apprenticeships offer professionals from a variety of fields the opportunity to gain degree qualifications, customised to their employer’s needs. Students work full-time whilst studying, resulting in industry-specific training with academic backbone in areas such as science, leadership, and project management.
