Christmas carol service at York Minster

Published: 04 December 2012

In keeping with the festive tradition, everyone will be invited to join in with Christmas carols and listen to some thought provoking readings. The University’s students will perform a theatrical intervention, produced by David Richmond, head of theatre, and musical performances, led by York St John’s director of music, Dr Ralph Bateman.

The service will be delivered by the University’s chaplain, Revd. Lukas Njenga. He said: “Our annual carol service is a wonderful opportunity for the people of York to come together as a community and enjoy Christmas. This year the theme of the service is ‘God with us’ and what that means to us today. We will be telling some great stories with special performances from our theatre and music students. Everyone is invited to join us and we hope they enjoy this wonderful evening in York Minster.”

The service is free of charge and open to all, to book a place and find out more please contact 01904 876654. Doors open at 7pm and the service will begin at 7.30pm. There will be light refreshments in the York St John University dining hall for guests after the service.
